ELEMENTARY STUDENTS ENJOY CORDUROY

The Corduroy performance by the high school Beta students was spectacular on October 2! 197 students participated in Jumpstart's "Read for the Record" campaign. Pre-K through 3rd grade students got to listen to the story while watching the Beta Club students perform. Afterwards, the PTA gave away stuffed bears to 5 lucky students and every student got to take home a button to remind them of the story.

Way to go Goreville students!

RAUTENSTRAUCH SIGNS WITH EASTERN

Senior Goreville Blackcat Casey Rautenstrauch signed a national letter of intent to play baseball next year at Division I Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Il.  Rautenstrauch has helped the Blackcats to three Regional titles.  In his career, the 6'5" Rautenstrauch has a 14-2 record on the mound in 95 innings pitched.  He has 120 K's and an E.R.A. of 2.88.  "Casey is a player that has put in the hard work it takes to be successful and it has paid off for him.  I really don't think we have seen the best of Casey, he is still growing as a pitcher and he will just keep getting better," said Goreville Head Baseball Coach Shawn Tripp.  Rautenstrauch will play baseball under coach Jim Schmitz who is in his 16th year.  Coach Schmitz led the panthers to the Ohio Valley Tournament Championship last year and the Nebraska Regional of the NCAA Tournament.  Casey is the son of Denis and Cheri Rautenstrauch.

CONGRATULATIONS CASEY!!!
