BLACKCATS WIN INVITATIONAL! The Blackcats Baseball Team has started the 09-10 season by taking the Championship at the Carrier Mills Invitational Baseball Tournament! In the semi-finals, the Cats beat Pope County 6-0 behind sophomore hurler Nate Webb's 1 hit shutout. In the Championship, the cats routed the host Carrier Mills 15-4 behind junior Nick Andros' 4-4 hitting performance including two doubles. Congratulations Blackcats!!! |

LADY BLACKCATS WIN CONSOLATION CHAMPIONSHIP The Goreville High School Lady Blackcats Softball Team won the Consolation Championship of the Cape Notre Dame Fall Classic Invitational Softball Tournament in Cape Girardeau, MO. Congratulations Lady Cats!!! |
FIRST ANNUAL CAR, TRUCK, AND MOTORCYCLE SHOW The First Annual Goreville High School Car, Truck, and Motorcycle Show held on September 19 was a huge success! 37 entries registered for the competition. Gary Billingsley of rural Goreville won "Best Truck" while Bon Stone of Makanda won "Best Bike", "Best Car", and Best of Show". |

Goreville High School Lady Cats Softball Coach Shanna Massey has been named the Illinois Coaches Association Southern Super-sectional Softball Coach of the Year for 2009! Coach Massey has been the softball coach at Goreville High School for the past five seasons and was previously the Junior High softball coach. The ICA Coach of the Year is an award given to a coach from each Super-sectional in the state of Illinois. It is voted on by fellow coaches with a banquet honoring all Coach of the Year winners.
