Thanks to everyone who attended our third meeting on November 5 - We had a speedy meeting, covering mucho topics, planning for our upcoming activities. HOT TOPIC: Class Size, Safety Reiterating: PTA meetings are a forum for discussion, for planning partnership opportunities for ALL members and for networking with other adults who keep all students as a priority! Issues concerning the whole of our student body, will be voiced during proper channels with confidences respected.
At this time, interest in helping in the school with our current partnering projects will be explained w/in each of the following sections.

WE DID IT Goreville Students helped break the record for reading -- over 2 million children participated in reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar - CONGRATS!!! October 8 JumpStart for Reading
This year, Head Start and Pre-k through 2nd grade were part of a nation-wide movement to read "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" - its 40th anniversary!!
Classrooms participated FULLY - by making decorations/props of the food items the Very Hungry Caterpillar eats through!! And the PTA provided butterfuly fans to all partipants as well as provided prizes for an incentive drawing - 4 Very Hungry Caterpillar Plushes were won in addition to an Eric Carle card game and HUGE caterpillar plush that was BIGGER than the winner, Bryce! Congrats!
Many thanks to the following PTA members were on hand to assist in distributing fans and adhering "I read for the record" stickers on students: Niki Cloud, Brandy Kwiatkowski, Rachelle Shumake, Kristen Bocook, Melissa Parker, Paige Ray and Tina Dudley!

![]() Grandparents Day Thursday, October 15, 9:00am WOW - What great attendance! Grandparents, Great and Great Great Grandparents! Come share in a program designed to express your students admiration and love! The Goreville PTA will be providing light refreshments as continued gratitude!! Thanks to Rachelle Shumake, Brandy Kwiatkowski, Niki Cloud, Kristen Bocook, Tina Dudley, Melissa Parker - for tending to the awesome refreshments we provided to all in attendance!!! |
![]() October 17 - Tis a Cold Day Antique Tractor Pull Chili Supper - raised approx $800 Fall Festival - many thanks to all attendees! Beginning at 10 am at the City Park, the PTA will be hosting an inflatable bouncy house! For a $5.00 fee, children can bounce all day! Stuff the Bus Committee will be holding a bake sale - so fulfill your sweet tooth and support our efforts to keep school supplies in the hands of our students! Parents - Afterwards, bring your family to the Chili Supper and Fall Festival at the school -- The night continues with family fun activities. KIDS - turn in your arm band during the chili supper for a free snack sponsored by the PTA! COW PATTY BINGO became Donkey Dungo due to our gracious farm animal substitute - and congratulations to our winner Britney Randolph COW KISSING - Donkey Smacking - Congratulations to Bobbi Bigler... who for two years has swooned the livestock! Fall Festival Activities included: Dart Balloons, Hair coloring and Face painting, Duck Pond, Jail and Bail, Fishing, Jail and Bail, Ping Pong game and a Toilet Seat Toss and plenty of other light food sales out on the lot!

Family Reading Night October 27, 2009, 6:00PM Thanks to Scarlett Tosh for coordinating other PTA members & refreshments! Refreshments are brought to you by your Goreville PTA and the wonderful prizes this year include books and matching plush animals!!! Rain dampened attendance but not the spirit of watching books come to life!

Our school community is diligently working with the community at large, encouraging a recycling program - We are first, beginning with paper! More to follow; lets all support these community-wide efforts. Even the smallest of expended efforts might result in humongous greatness! |

Thursday (Oct 22) & Friday (Oct 23) Parent Teacher Conferences All Staff made their way to the cafeteria for a warm meal and then a hearty breakfast the next day! STAFF - you are appreciated!

![]() Holiday Stop 'n Shop November 7 & 8 - School Cafeteria Generated upwards of $360 for Character Education Program and purchasing additional videoes to support character ed qualities!!! Much THANKS to Jan Lenon and Meri Lewis for coordinating, planning and gearing up for future craft fairs! SALUTE! There were many at-home businesses attending, craft vendors and hands-on demonstrations with Stampin' Up! Tastefully Simple At Home America BeautiControl Beauty Control Norwex Stampin' Up Pampered Chef and Thirty-One Uppercase Living & church groups and individual crafters What a great way to put so many options under ONE ROOF! There were also refreshment concessions from our own Joni Foster!

![]() In regards to the Nestle Water Bottle Campaign - each year we must "cash in" our total because they do not roll over the amount. This year we were able to purchase a 20 foot parachute for PreK; playground balls, and EZ fold cart and safety cones!!! Continued thanks to all of you who diligently send in the labels.
